More Than Words

Source: Twitter

BTS has been together for more than 9 years and has thousands of ARMY from all over the world that speaks different languages. BTS always try to communicate with ARMY by using all the platforms they can. They create content on YouTube, VLive, Weverse, Instagram, and even Twitter so they can always connect with the fans and understand each other’s feelings.

Korean might be BTS’ mother tongue but there are several ways for ARMY to understand what they are talking about from various accounts that are dedicated to translating their words; you can find the translator accounts here. Although translating is not only about translating one word to another language, it is also about translating the context and innuendos behind it for a finer understanding of their conversation. Sometimes, it is hard to translate accurately because there might be some double meanings in some words or they cannot find the right word to use.

A few weeks ago, when BTS released BTS Festa dinner content to celebrate their anniversary, ARMY had a chaotic moment and were confused because there was a subtitle in the content that said BTS would be going on a hiatus. The word “off period” became “hiatus” in a second and tons of articles made assumptions on their decision.

It also made ARMY and other people question their decision and the reason behind it. People made assumptions and analyzed their next moves if the group was in fact going on hiatus. Some ARMY were happy because it meant the boys would have their quality time to do what they wanted to do for so long, but some also felt sad because it meant they cannot see the boys for a while. Some even thought there might be a chance that the boys are actually planning to leave the group.

Hybe came right away to tell ARMY that the boys are not on hiatus and it is only a wrong translation on the content, meanwhile they will have upcoming solo projects and it starts with j-hope with his Jack In The Box album. Some members came up on several platforms to clarify the misunderstanding. Jung Kook was one of the members that spoke up to calm the chaos. On VLive, he reminded ARMY that they would resume filming “Run BTS!” that we have been missing for so long, along with pursuing their work on solo projects. V also said hi to ARMY on Weverse by saying

“Now, as this is the start of our healthy footsteps so that we can remain as Bangtan [BTS] for a long time, I trust that ARMYs will really like this side of us as well.”

RM also posted a long explanation for ARMY on Weverse to reassure us that they are not leaving the group, instead, they will try to focus on solo projects. He said that everyone did not plan or prepare for the effect of the content that was only supposed to be for ARMY, the media twisted the context and made the situation unpleasant. He even asked people to leave the unnecessary opinions and just focus on BTS and ARMY because it will always be one, in any conditions. At the end of his letter, he said “As the person who shared the most [in the video], I wanted to give a brief summary. I want to thank everyone who watched the video and shared your positive support, love and energy, whether from close by or far away. Whether as a team or as an individual, I will work hard to show you a good side of myself. Thank you.”

After the chaos, ARMY made fun of this news by saying that BTS is the fastest group who went on a hiatus only for 5 hours and 21 minutes. So, ARMY from now on we should always trust the boys and never listen to the rumors. Do not forget to hype up each member’s solo project as well because even if they are working as a solo artist, they are still our BTS that we have loved since day one.
