Art is an essential part of everyone’s life. It comes to us in various shapes and forms: writing, making music, dancing, painting, photography, digital design, fashion statements, and a wide variety of other types. People perceive art differently; in each individual, it resonates in ways that are inevitably different.
Art can be bold and fierce, can be difficult to understand, can hit close to home, can leave us unfazed sometimes; it can be overwhelming, leave people feeling exposed and tired. It can brighten someone’s day, make them smile, make them relate to it, or simply leave an unforgettable impression. If someone is deeply absorbed in art, whether they create or just observe, it can make or break the moment.
BTS Loves Art.
With BTS, ARMY has had the great fortune of getting to know many types of art and many different artists who somehow had an impact on BTS’ lives - the members have suggested that their fans explore these artists’ works, because “sharing is caring.” Additionally, the members would show some of their own casual art: the pictures they took with their cameras or phones. ARMYs are emotionally attached to Yoongi’s collection of pictures called “SUGA’s Eyes” and to the pictures of the sky, Namjoon often shares with us.
While in Paris in 2018, Taehyung posted pictures, in which he stood next to some of Jean-Michel Basquiat’s paintings, exhibited at the Foundation Louis Vuitton museum.

Namjoon has been often spotted attending art exhibitions. His love for art is so great that The R3 Journal has stated: “Selected as one of the '2020 Patrons of Arts' by the Arts Council of Korea, RM's influence in the Arts & Culture world led to an increase in visibility & interest in artists & exhibitions of contemporary art.”
Further proof of BTS’s love for art is their project CONNECT, BTS, which commissioned “public projects from established artists in five cities: New York, Seoul, Buenos Aires, London, and Berlin. The organization's goal is to tap into art’s potential for public engagement, inclusion, and solidarity,” says Architectural Digest.
During the recording of ”In the SOOP,” some of the members were seen painting and reading books while having fun. Even when they had the opportunity to relax, BTS chose art to keep themselves active and active.
There is so much more than this, though. The members are very much in love with art, each of them in different ways.
“Do Remember They Can’t Cancel the Spring.”
On Jan. 1, 2021, Namjoon wrote and posted a long, emotional letter on Weverse. He reflected on what the year 2020 brought us, what it took away from us, and on the feelings that we felt while in quarantine. He ended his letter hoping for “spring days that seem more like spring days,” and, as if to remind us that art is another way of survival, he wrote: “Do remember they can’t cancel the spring”.
That is, in fact, the title of David Hockney’s quarantine-produced work—a beautiful painting portraying life at its best, which depicts a green field, a blue and violet sky, and, catching all the attention in the foreground, cheerful yellow daffodils standing out bright and hopeful.
From his lockdown in Normandy, in Northern France, the 82-year-old artist shared this new iPad drawing with the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Denmark, who then posted a picture of it on Instagram on March 19. Many other artists, in the past and now, have tried to keep hope alive and thriving in trying times and succeeded.
But what is truly touching is just how much art influences BTS members’ lives. The members could very easily love art but not bother with sharing it with us or talking about it at all. But that is not in their nature because their love for art is so genuine and overwhelming that it must be difficult for them to keep it in.
Namjoon chose his words very carefully to encourage people to look forward to 2021 while leaving the feelings from 2020 behind. In doing so, he chose a timeless metaphor for life and hope for better days. Spring is the time where nature experiences rebirth, and with it, the world is also reborn.
Spring will come again.
In “Life Goes On,” Jungkook sings: “Spring didn't know that it had to wait, showed up not even a minute late,” possibly meaning that 2020 took away the joy of enjoying spring outside, but that still the spring did not give up. This is also the meaning of “Spring Day,” enduring hardships - 2020’s metaphorical winter - until finally reaching the warmth and comfort of spring.
We’re living in a time that is still quite new for all of us, but that means that we just have to find different ways to enjoy life to the fullest.
