As we officially open for business, we would like to introduce you to our world: how BV was born and why, and what to expect from us now that we are here and have no intention of leaving anytime soon.
“Purple is the last color of the rainbow colors
so it means I will trust and love you for a long time.”
V, 3rd Muster
"Love is the key for reconciliation and integration for all of society."
RM, for J-14 Magazine
Borasaek Vision (which, for those who may not be familiar with this Korean term yet, translates to "Purple Vision") is comprised of a group of ARMYs from all over the world; all with different ages and backgrounds, inspired by BTS' message of love and acceptance of ourselves and of others.
Our first goal is, in fact, to spread this "Borasaek Vision" of love and trust to ARMY, to BTS themselves, and beyond. Yes. Beyond, because as BTS becomes known worldwide, people outside our fandom will need reliable sources to understand who exactly are these seven guys, what they have to say and why they are so loved.
But that's not all.
We want to follow another of BTS' examples: don't be afraid of talking about sensitive topics and "stigmas.”
We'll write about the unpleasant side of ARMY as much as the amazing one. With us, you'll be able to read about how the relationship between BTS and ARMY works, about the stereotypes we have to face and fight, about how these seven boys and their fandom make the world a better place through charity projects and giving back. We will also not shy away from mentioning saesangs and ugly behavior such as fanwars and solo stans. Just like BTS, BV's purpose and hope is to inspire and entertain our readers, as well as inform them of authentic information and tackle the difficult or controversial topics that need to be discussed (regardless of whether or not it’s what people want to hear).
“If we don’t talk about these issues, who will?”
SUGA, interview for Billboard
And what would be more fitting than to start with the topic of ‘journalistic integrity’ - or lack thereof - in Western media? ARMYs are painfully aware of how often BTS is treated poorly by the media. Their talent and efforts belittled, their amazing messages completely forgotten or ignored in order to push the "K-Pop phenomenon with a huge army of crazy fangirls" agenda. And not to mention the erroneous information online due to lack of research.
In our next series of blogs, we'll analyze the concept of journalistic integrity, outlining our thoughts so that you’re able to understand our perspective and hopefully, we’ll be able to show you what it means for us.
Our wish is to do something that would make BTS proud of us, follow their lead in doing something worthy, talking about things no one talks about, bringing light to amazing details left out by the media, being the voice for the part of ARMY that is mostly silent - the part of our fandom that often is not considered because unpleasant behavior is louder. And by leaving our little mark, making this world a slightly better place than how we found it.
We hope you'll support us during this journey so that together we'll be able to create a more aware and cheerful community and family. We promise to always do our best, to bring you the most accurate and entertaining articles possible.
Stay tuned for what's to come!
We purple you! 💜
