This pandemic has forced us to reshape our lifestyle, COVID-19 has brought the cancellation of the “Map of the Soul TOUR,” which has left both BTS and ARMY devastated; but, as a creative and hardworking group, BTS has offered us a considerable amount of new content through the year and it might even be more than they have ever done in the previous years.
NEW ALBUMS
Following the release of Map of the Soul: 7 earlier this year, BTS released their Japanese album called Map of the Soul: 7 ~The Journey~. It not only has Japanese versions of eight songs, but this album also has five original Japanese songs and 2 MVs: “Lights” and “Stay Gold.”
Not long after, BTS announced the beginning of the making for their self-made album, out in October. Through their live videos on BANGTANTV, they show the behind-the-scenes process with each member taking a role such as a project manager, video director, album-jacket visual manager, choreographer, and many more.
NEW PRODUCTS
Less than two weeks from their 7th anniversary, Big Hit announced the pre-order and release date of BTS’ first official book: Graphic Lyrics Book Series.
“‘Graphic Lyrics’ is a new project to convey the lyrical experience in the form of a picture book. Five BTS songs that began with HYYH will be recreated as five picture books. With beautiful illustration accompanying the lyrics, we hope to offer another method of enjoying music.” -Bang Sihyuk, Big Hit Corporate Briefing with the Community (1H 2020)
Big Hit also shared a visually pleasing animated video as a sneak peek of the book, which turned out to beautifully and artistically represent the lyrics BTS has been singing.
Later, BigHit released another BTS official book called Learn! Korean with BTS. These are the more complex versions of the “Learn! Korean with BTS” video series on Weverse. Not only as educational content for ARMYs, but this book is also taking a part of the Korean Language education program, in collaboration with the Korean Foundation and Hankuk University of Foreign Studies.
CLASS OF 2020
On June 7, BTS took part in Youtube’s “Dear Class of 2020” virtual graduation as a performer and speech speaker. BTS beautifully closed the graduation by singing three songs and delivering their speech which has reached so many hearts across the world.
VIRTUAL CONCERTS
On April 18 and 19, Big Hit held a “BTS Online Concert Weekend Bang Bang Con.” Airing 6 concerts and two musters, this concert was being streamed on their YouTube channel “BANGTANTV.” It attracted 50.59 million views in total, with 2.24 million highest number of concurrent viewers and 500.000 ARMY Bombs connected through Weverse.
Seeing the success of their first online concert, BTS announced “Bang Bang Con: The Live” online concert to mark the end of their “2020 FESTA.” This online concert alone has claimed the world record with 756,000 highest concurrent viewers from 107 regions worldwide.
On October 10 and 11, BTS will hold a “MAP OF THE SOUL ON:E.” These two-day concerts are available online and can be purchased through Weverse. This might also be the first in-Korea performance of "Dynamite."
ENGLISH SONG
During their recent radio live “JiJinJung” on Vlive, BTS announced the release of “Dynamite” -their first all-English single- on August 21. During the interview following the single release, BTS revealed how the guide version in English has the perfect verses and vibes; hence, they keep it as it is. With “Dynamite,” BTS hopes to give a joyous explosion during this struggling time.
NEW GAME
Making another collaboration with Netmarble, Big Hit released another game called “BTS Universe Story.” This game revolves around their “The Most Beautiful Moment in Life” story that was initially revealed in 2015 with the release of “I Need U.” Based on the promotion, this game will allow players to choose and create their own stories, with the animated version of BTS and some videos where the septet flex their acting skills.
BTS IN THE SOOP
What else could be more fun but therapeutic than watching BTS huddling together in the middle of nowhere, doing the things they love, or couldn’t do before? BTS “In The SOOP” offers eight episodes of BTS enjoying their healing time together, surrounding nature, foods, and activities the members had planned before-hand. ARMYs see it as the new version of “Bon Voyage.” It can be watched by purchasing the content on Weverse.
BTS has always been the best at doing what they want and love. Their hearts seem to be full of kindness and love to offer for those struggling and for any people in general. They once again show that there are no limits of showing love and compassion, especially during this time when everyone needs it the most.
