‘September with BTS’ - Let’s Celebrate

It’s been a while since we wrote a blog dedicated to BTS birthdays, and this month is extra special because we have two to celebrate. As well as these two highlights, Kim Taehyung, aka V, will finally debut his long-awaited solo album Layover. In this tiny part of Oceania where we both reside, September 1 is also the first official day of Spring, so it comes with the additional nuances of new beginnings, new life, and rebirth. Sometimes referred to as ‘the season of hope’ we know there is much to celebrate in the coming days and weeks.

Jung Kook’s Time to Shine

As we are all well informed, Jung Kook’s birthday falls on September 1st. In the past, fans all over the world have held some memorable celebrations for our Golden Maknae – such as billboards in Times Square, Jung Kook-themed party buses, fundraisers under his name, and the list goes on. Every year since his debut, ARMYs have celebrated his birthday, and this year won’t be any different. Ads showcasing Jung Kook’s 27th birthday have already been seen in Hanoi, Vietnam, and Shinjuku, Tokyo Japan.

This is just the beginning of how fans are showing their admiration and love for JK and his special day. Streaming “Seven” and requesting “Seven” on radio stations is another way you can show support. By doing this, Jung Kook and his single will continue to get the recognition they deserve — plus it’s a great song and he’s a great guy. In a recent episode of SUGA’s talk show “Suchwita,” JK mentioned that “his next solo release will be another single, followed by a mini-album by November 2023.” Showing love for this up-and-coming single/mini-album is also another way we can keep on supporting JK.

V’s Labor of Love

Debuting a solo album represents a pivotal moment in an artist's career, embodying a profound personal and creative journey. This significant milestone provides artists with an unparalleled platform to express their individuality, artistic vision, and evolution as an artist. The importance of releasing a solo album extends beyond the mere act of introducing new music; it serves as a declaration of identity and a canvas for unfiltered self-expression.

As we have already seen with j-hope’s Jack In The Box, RM’s Indigo, and Jimin’s Face, through the creation of solo albums, artists can unearth hidden facets of their artistry and push the boundaries of their musical comfort zones, resulting in a body of work that is uniquely their own. In a world saturated with content, a solo album stands as a beacon of an artist's vision, encapsulating their emotions, stories, and growth into a cohesive sonic journey. It allows dedicated fans and new listeners to connect on a deeper level and often accompanies pivotal moments in their lives. Guided by the first two songs that V has already released, “Love Me Again” and “Rainy Day,” V’s debut album, Layover, is sure to be a labor of love for his fans — a solo album that holds the potential to leave an indelible imprint on the musical landscape of not only K-pop but the music industry in general. Let’s not forget that the MV for “Blue” will also be revealed the day after RM’s birthday. Exciting times are ahead for V and ARMYs alike.

RM: Live & Love

In the world where BTS & ARMY exist, the members’ birthdays are important milestones to be celebrated, marked with festivities and excitement. Already we’ve noticed how ARMYs have been busy in the lead-up to Jung Kook’s birthday. This next one is just as important as it’s finally time to celebrate the birthday of BTS’ charismatic and insightful leader, Kim Namjoon aka RM. Besides September being his birth month, the song “September” by Earth, Wind & Fire also holds a special place in RM’s heart. As he mentioned in an interview with fellow artist and friend, Colde, this is the song that comes to mind when he first thinks of the word “love.”

RM’s impact as a leader, artist, and thinker is evident not only in the music he creates but also in the positive influence he has on the lives of countless individuals. His pursuit of self-growth, coupled with his commitment to using his platform for meaningful discussions, sets him apart as a role model and inspiration for many. RM's journey serves as a testament to the transformative power of art and the ability to effect positive change through creativity and leadership. Beyond music, RM's intellect shines through his many achievements, and his articulate discussions on various topics, from art and literature to societal issues, have earned him admiration from fans and experts alike.

2023 will mark the first year that Jung Kook and RM both celebrate their birthday ages according to International standards. Technically, this means that both of them have aged a year younger, rather than a year older so Jung Kook will be 26 years old on September 1 and RM will be 29 years old on September 12. Hopefully, both young men will be able to spend time with their friends and families, enjoying good food, drink, and conversation together. ARMYs, too, will be busy celebrating throughout this month, and why not, there’s plenty to be grateful for!
