A Space We Are in Together

Far away in some forest in Chuncheon, Gangwon-do, surrounded by the Bukhan River and green mountains, is where BTS enjoyed the days between daily life and vacation. Amid their busy schedules, sometime in June 2020, BTS got a chance to unwind and to get closer with one another, tightening their undying bond.

“In the SOOP” has been a great gift that BTS gave to ARMY in the second half of 2020. The show that is available for purchase from Weverse has left many memories, but it has also revealed the hidden stories of the members and their lives. Besides, they were able to choose their itinerary and activities, making the show a lot more fun, as the fans were given the gift to see what BTS were capable of doing besides singing, rapping, dancing, or creating diverse music.

As the show has ended, why don’t we look into the unforgettable memories this show has given to us?

TAKING A TRIP DOWN MEMORY LANE

During their stay in the forest retreat, BTS had to fend for themselves in the middle of nowhere, meaning that they also had to cook for themselves. BTS also joked about how the show was turning into a cooking show, as almost every episode showed BTS making a meal twice; for lunch and dinner.

As they sat together and enjoyed their food, BTS couldn’t stop themselves from talking about the past. Even though the food got colder, they got closer and warmed their way further into each other’s hearts.

HEART TO HEART DIALOGUE

During one episode, Taehyung was seen having a heart-to-heart conversation with Jungkook over a glass of wine. As they talked, Taehyung poured the feelings he had been holding back for the last few months – the longing for ARMYs. Taehyung opened up about how the presence of ARMY makes him feel loved, and how he spent his time talking with ARMYs through Weverse and playing some games with them. He admitted the emptiness he felt due to the absence of ARMY this year. Jungkook then left a heartfelt response.

“I’m staying patient and until I get to see them, I’m trying not to let any moment go to waste and work on bettering myself so that I can become a better self before them. If you really love to be loved, I think it would be good to show those who love you how much you’ve changed.”

Yoongi and Seokjin also were seen as having an unintentional confession of admiration to one another. Seokjin talked about how he realized that it is very important who he surrounds himself with. He mentioned how his fellow members have been working hard, and how it has taught him to also do his best. Yoongi, in return, mentioned how Seokjin is one of the people he strives to be like the most these days.

They also mentioned multiple times during the episodes of how they are longing for ARMYs and how badly they want to do a concert.

DISCOVERING NEW INTERESTS

As they enjoyed the relaxing environment, BTS also discovered new hobbies and activities they had never tried before. Jungkook, Namjoon, Hoseok, Yoongi, and Seokjin unleashed their inner painters with some surprising results; Yoongi and Seokjin had a fishing adventure at the lake; Hoseok and Namjoon enjoyed playing with blocks and even went hiking; Jimin tried wood carving, and Taehyung was busy doing anything he wanted.

CREATING MORE MUSIC

As hardworking artists, as they are, BTS couldn’t stay away from making music. At the beginning of the show when they were driving towards the forest, Hoseok was encouraging Taehyung to release his mixtape, as the younger one was having a lot of doubt in doing so. Hoseok advised him to release it how it is and reassured that he can make better music in the future; otherwise, he wouldn’t feel like releasing his mixtape at all. Meanwhile, in the other car, Namjoon was having a run-through for the lyrics of “Still With You,” the song Jungkook wrote and released for the celebration of their 7th debut anniversary.

Further into the show, what started out as a fun session of singing random tunes and lyrics turned into the making of the show’s opening song. They wrote the lyrics themselves and even recorded the demo version with Yoongi’s portable music equipment that he brought along with him. During the last episode, they were seen cooking up the song into perfection with Yoongi taking the lead.

A lot of ARMYs have admitted how the show was not only entertaining but also gave a lot of comforts and a sense of healing for them. Watching BTS happily enjoying their rare free time and getting closer to each other has warmed the fans’ hearts and given them reassurance that BTS is doing alright – lighting a spark of hope for the situation that is happening around the world now to get better and for BTS x ARMY to reunite again.
