Following the first part of this blog, we’re going to take a brief look at the “ARTIST-MADE COLLECTION” BTS launched in January. Let’s go!
NOTE AND NECKLACE
As an on-demand music producer and songwriter, SUGA feels comfortable writing down his thoughts on a notepad. With that in mind, he wanted ARMY to feel the charm of writing in a notepad by making the “Black Note & Cover Set.” The note came in B5 size, with an Oxford plus case made of synthetic Saffiano leather and a purple pen with a pen holder. In addition, there’s also a big pocket that’s perfect to place documents needed for any activity.
As playing guitar has developed into his new hobby, SUGA made a “Guitar Pick Necklace” as his second piece of merch. Though it can’t be used as an actual guitar pick, SUGA hopes anyone who wears it will look like a guitar prodigy. ARMYs can choose between two pendants: one with an embossed ARMY logo, and one with a debossed BTS logo.

POT SET AND MINI BAG
J-hope is a big fan of mini bags and pouches, even having a full collection of them. That’s why there wasn’t any surprise when he made the “Side By Side Mini Bag” with a chain strap. It’s a light denim mini bag with a unique splash of dark denim for each bag. The simple design also allows the fans to decorate it with brooches, badges, or any kind of accessories they like.
Along with the bag, j-hope also designed the “Hope Pot Set,” a set of four pots with fake plants that can be used as a decoration or as pots for actual plants. On the concrete texture of the pot, there are engraved four lines from his part in “Magic Shop”: “Like roses when blooming, like cherry blossoms when fluttering, like morning glories when fading, like that beautiful moment.” J-hope wishes that the ARMYs will always think about him while wearing the mini bag and when looking at the pot set that he designed so thoughtfully.

HOODY AND MOOD LAMP
For Jung Kook, making a hoodie in one color was not enough, so “ARMY Zip-Up Hoody” comes in four colors: black, white, mustard, and pink. As a big hoodie fan, Jung Kook requested a loose-fitted size with bat-wing sleeves, a droopy big hood that would cover the eyes, and an asymmetrical length. To add a more “hip” look, he suggested a rough look on the hem of the hoodie and the sleeves. The “ARMYST” written on the back of the hoodie could mean two things. First is the meaning Jung Kook comes up with, a combination of “ARMY” and “artist.” The second is a meaning discussed within the ARMY community; it could be a combination of “ARMY” and “Amethyst,” a purple-colored gem.
As someone who can’t sleep with the lights on, but doesn’t like pitch-black darkness, Jung Kook designed a “Mikrokosmos Mood Lamp” with a Bluetooth speaker. The three different light projectors would create a beautiful aurora and galaxy that moves and changes colors from time to time. One can also play a soft melody through the Bluetooth speaker and create a cozier ambiance to sleep.

EARRINGS AND HOODY
Earrings and hoodies are both essential things in Jimin’s life that he wanted to share with fans. The “With You Hoody” is specially designed with mustard-colored words that ARMY and BTS are intimately familiar with. This purple hoodie has “You” written on the chest, “Never Walk Alone” on the back, “Seven With You” on the hood, and a “13” on the drawstring. What sets this hoodie apart from Jung Kook’s merch is that it uses a regular hoodie design, with a big hood and soft fleece to keep our bodies warm.
The “13” is also engraved on the inside of the “Red Carving Earring” he designed. 13 is a precious number for him, as it’s the date and year of BTS debut, and also the date of his birthday. The name “Red Carving” itself comes from the red or burgundy lines engraved across the earrings. The earring is made with 925 silver and is light enough to wear daily. As someone who likes shiny and pretty things, Jimin hopes ARMYs will like his choice of merch and feel as if he is by ARMYs side all the time.

Through the entire “Artist-Made Collection” event, BTS has shown how aware and thoughtful they are of little details and of ARMYs’ desires and preferences. One thing all of the members have in common is that they know that the best merch isn’t something that is too straightforward, but rather items with subtle signs here and there that only the artist and the fans know about. Due to the high demand, HYBE Merch has opened the second pre-order, and with how fast the merch sold out, we’re hoping for the third and more pre-orders to come.
HYBE Merch, please hear our prayers.
