In a previous blog titled “What they say about BTS,” Borasaek Vision highlighted several Western artists who have shared their experiences of working with BTS. Now, we are going to explore how Korean artists see BTS as a boy band from their home country of South Korea.

It is no longer a secret that BTS’ journey as a group has been an inspiration for a lot of people. BTS are known to be genuine people both on and off camera. Some artists in the K-Pop industry even include BTS as their role models.

Tomorrow X Together, or TXT (투모로우바이투게더), is known as BTS’ hoobae (후배) or ‘junior.’ People sometimes call them their little brothers. It is not a secret that they shared some sweet interactions because they are under the same label, HYBE. On their debut showcase day, Beomgyu said that BTS gave them advice about the importance of teamwork and being a good artist for the industry. Yeonjun also felt honored because, even though BTS are like the sky above them, their sunbae (선배) mentioned their upcoming debut on the red carpet of Seoul Music Awards.

BTS’ stages always leave a remarkable memory in everyone’s mind, because they are always beautiful, yet powerful. Taehyun mentioned that BTS gave them advice about going all out during a performance, “and the importance of always doing our best when performing because the stage is the one place where we can wholly show everything.” Recently, during TXT’s comeback for The Dream Chapter: ETERNITY, Soobin said that J-Hope told him not to feel defeated by any situation and to make sure to show everyone their 100%. We can clearly see that they are close to each other because they are supporting each other in important circumstances.

Another singer that shared their thoughts about BTS is CL. She recently became the first female Korean artist to enter the Billboard Hot 100. She showed her happiness when she saw BTS' records in the music industry because there was no one like them before. BTS shows their own style with their own cultural influences and are known by almost everyone in the world because of that. Therefore, they also created a gate for Asian and Korean artists to gain popularity. These days, it is easier to express and promote their own culture in the music industry thanks to BTS. Because of BTS, the boundaries are becoming blurrier.

Just like CL, Twice during KCON 2018 LA also felt happy that K-Pop nowadays has become more popular in America. It is all because BTS paved the way and gave the girls an opportunity to become more known in the music industry — not only in South Korea but in America as well.

A Korean-American rapper and songwriter, Jessi, collaborated with BTS back in 2016 for a commercial ad for a phone provider. During her live show on Instagram, she revealed that they were working together for over fourteen hours on that day and that she saw their pure bonding as both colleagues and friends. Jessi started her career in the early 2000s, so she has seen a lot of idol group dynamics. She also gave a compliment because of the achievements that BTS got in America; it is all thanks to their excellent teamwork.

Hyunseung (Beast/B2ST) shared his opinion about BTS, too. He said that BTS are singers full of energy and talent, and for him, singers who can have fun on the stage are talented singers. It is what BTS do every time they are on stage; wherever they are, they will always try to engage with ARMYs from the stage and share their energy with everyone in the stadium.

BTS’ popularity as global artists continues to grow every day. We see this in their rising music video views, the growing number of followers they gain on social media, and more recently, in how quickly tickets sold out for their first post-pandemic live concert at SoFi stadium in California. However, we don’t always see this same level of popularity from their own peers in South Korea. That is why it is always refreshing to hear other South Korean artists and industry professionals acknowledge and appreciate BTS members for their sincerity, respectful professionalism, and friendly personalities.
