BTS’s Voice – ARMY
ARMY (Adorable Representative M.C For Youth) was officially formed on July 9, 2013. Since then, and even before, ARMY has been a major driving force, not just for BTS, but also for each other. This out-of-the-world community grows every single day, stays, inspires, protects, and becomes a shoulder to cry on when needed. ARMY has stuck through some of the most heartbreaking moments and stood tall during the most formidable times. It’s often a piece of cake for the media and “journalists” to poke their nose into the fandom, get the gist of a heated topic, and then throw the fandom under the bus to get those petty clicks.
It cannot be denied that ARMYs are often dehumanized as much as BTS are. In a world that is incapable of escaping its stereotypes and sexist behaviors and that is rarely looking at things beyond a viral, non-researched, ignorant article, ARMYs oftentimes lose the space to just be themselves.
Borasaek Vision makes a tiny attempt at giving ARMYs this uncommon platform to tell their stories through this series of blogs that will narrate nothing but your stories. For our first blog, we have some beautiful anecdotes from the fans who are all part of the Indian ARMY (also popularly known as Desimys). BTS has a very strong, supportive, and active following of ARMYs in India, so it is wonderful to be able to share just a few of their ARMY stories! As we’ll continue our series, we will travel around the world, meeting ARMYs from all walks of life and countries. We look forward to this journey!
What Is Your Story?
Kavya Sharma, an ARMY from India, writes, “In 2018, one of my friends was into K-pop and she sent me a YouTube link to “DNA.” I was hooked on the song. She sent me some other songs and I loved all of them. Till then I was just grooving to all these songs. Then one day, she sends me “Spring Day.” I watched the MV and cried. I didn’t know what they were singing about, but I could feel all the emotions. That day I realized; music really transcends language. I read the translated lyrics for “Spring Day” and at that moment I knew; I was in this for a lifetime.
All of this happened when I was going through a difficult phase in my life. There’s this saying in the fandom that you find BTS when you need them the most. Couldn’t agree more. Ever since then, BTS songs have been a great source of comfort, motivation, and inspiration for me. But more than that, I love them for being so humble and kind, on and off-camera. I’ve never laughed or cried as much as I have, watching them. Being an ARMY has been a beautiful journey till now, and I wish to be a part of it forever.”
Nidhi Singh, another Indian ARMY recalls, “Becoming a BTS ARMY will always be the best part of my life. I never thought that I will listen to BTS songs or will ever become part of ARMY. One day, while working in my office, "Make It Right" came on shuffle on my Spotify and it was on repeat for the whole day. Then I asked my best friend who has been a part of the ARMY for many years about BTS. She was more excited than me for having discovered them. She started sending me songs and the very first one was the masterpiece “Black Swan,” and I started liking them.
It is true, BTS comes into your life at the right time – when you need them. When you have them, you don’t need anyone else. It’s really tough loving 7 boys who live so far away but they love us more than we can ever think. I never thought I would be a fan of someone but they are precious. The dedication they have towards their work cannot be described in words. The way they love the ARMY, I have not seen anyone who will shower this much love. Still, there is so much more to discover about them, but yes, within a few days itself I have been motivated to be a good person. Thank you, BTS for existing and for working so hard for us. I know wherever you are, you will stay, and we will be here with you.
"WE LOVE YOU AND WILL KEEP LOVING ALWAYS.”

And lastly, Anindita Boruah, yet another ARMY from India, says, “People say, ‘You find BTS exactly when you need their presence in your life’ and I feel like I have found the answers to so many of my questions after I came across them.
When I was pursuing my Bachelor’s, my roommate used to watch a lot of BTS stuff and funny clips and even played songs in our room. “IDOL” was the first BTS MV that I watched with her. I was curious, but never really tried understanding the music or knowing the boys for that matter.
2020 was a crazy year and during the initial months, I was going through a rough phase in my life. With a lot of effort, I was trying to bring my life back on track and that’s when I found BTS (like officially). I started watching their videos and interviews on YouTube, remembered their names, studied their personalities, backgrounds, and even wrote down their entire UN speech in my personal diary. After that, I consulted Ananya, and she literally took me through the entire journey.
It has been eight months since I joined this fandom, and not a single day passes by without thinking about them. I won’t say they healed me, but they definitely showed me the way to self-healing. Self-love and self-care are my top priorities now. I have become more thoughtful and happier without having to fake a smile anymore. These 7 Angels turned me into someone better for myself.”
ARMYs – Tell Us Your Story

It is rather extraordinary to have an entire community to share with the same love, respect, and inside jokes that are often criticized unjustifiably. So many fans feel anxious or shy or have felt the need to “come out” as an ARMY because it is stigmatized in many social spaces. Creating a safe space for such a huge fandom has never been an easy job, but it is needed now more than ever.
So tell us ARMY; tell us that beautiful (sad or happy) story that led you to a home away from home. Tell us who you are and help us keep ARMYs humane enough for this world to see. You can share your stories with us through Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, or our email borasaekvision@gmail.com. We await your stories.
