Another year has come around, bringing with it a second season of In the Soop. This long-anticipated second season featured the members of BTS back on a relaxing vacation in the forest, joined by some new faces and new digs. It saw the members relaxing once again as they spent some time away from work. With four days and no scheduled plans, the boys did some cooking, played some games, and got plenty of rest.
This second installment of BTS In The Soop features a BTS that's sailing on a Billboard Hot100 win streak, Special Envoys to the President of Korea. They load into the bus that will take them to their new relaxing location, but not before a new face joins them.
We get to see Bam, Jungkook’s pup, tag along for the fun. Just like in the previous season, we see the members request things that they want to enjoy on their relaxing days off. One of Jungkook’s wishes is to bring his dog along, and we see that he is granted exactly that. There is a lot of joy that surrounds Bam’s attendance; he likes to run around with his ‘Uncles’ Jin and Suga, take a nap next to ‘Uncle’ J-Hope and get lots of love from all the members.
In interviews on the side, the members talked about things they enjoyed, or what they’d like to do with their time in the forest. A much larger location than the one in the previous season, there were endless activities awaiting BTS. A few of the members at the beginning said that they wished to ‘show a new side than last season’ or ‘show a new side of themselves to ARMY,’ but thankfully, when it came time for them to relax, they did exactly that. Although the members wondered what they should do on several occasions, they still went with activities they wanted, seemingly without a care for the cameras. RM spent quite a bit of time reading in the study, J-Hope and V spent some time poolside, Suga and Jimin played some basketball, and Jungkook spent quality time with Bam. They all dozed off at whatever time they preferred and woke up when they were ready to eat. Just as last season, canvas and paints were provided as creative outlets for the artists.
This season, we got to see J-Hope’s coffee-making skills, quickly dubbed ‘Hope-fee’ as the kitchen featured an espresso machine. Many other members tested out different recipes and cooked both communal and solo meals throughout their time. Noted by J-Hope, the members didn’t eat all of their meals together every day, but they were often inclusive and thoughtful of one another when cooking. If food was being prepared, often one member would wake the others to see if anyone else wanted anything or offered up leftovers. Yoongi and Jin teamed up together for the final feast in the forest, dak galbi— some stir-fried meat and veggies— as the members engaged in a conversation about the future dak galbi restaurant they would open, cannily named Dak- GalBTS. We saw several new dish creations from the members, including J-Hope’s croffles, and V’s specially crafted hotteok.
A feeling that seemed to resonate with all of the members this season was true rest and relaxation. We got plenty of footage of sleepy BTS as they spent their time comfy and cozy in the forest. During a particularly heavy rainstorm, RM gathered the members for a game of foot volleyball. A montage ensued of the game, the members completely drenched but wearing large smiles as they played around in the rain. In their exit interviews, they mention how much it reminded them of their childhood days of playing in the rain. On the first day, RM went out for a bicycle ride down the road (and later struggled in his return to the house) as he sang a snippet from his song Bicycle.
The forest vacation would not be complete without a goodbye firework show that some of the members took part in on the final night. Remembering the fireworks that come with the end of their concerts, there's excitement and hope amongst viewers for the upcoming concerts to be held in LA later this month. Just as last season, BTS In The Soop provided much-needed healing and laughter all around. In a time when travel has been limited, they found other outlets for adventure and relaxation and took ARMYs along for the ride.
