Following the Permission to Dance: On Stage and Jingle Ball 2021 performances BigHit Music announced BTS would be taking their second-ever official extended break. After record-breaking years of hard work for ARMY, providing various content throughout the pandemic, this break was well-deserved. What came unexpectedly was their descent onto Instagram, sending ARMYs flying to the platform to follow and show love for the members. Each member debuted under their own individual account. This was the first platform aside from Weverse where the members had accounts of their own from which to connect with fans. With a new format at their fingertips, fans waited to see how each member would interact. It was quickly realized that each member followed only the other six members; only they could comment on each other's posts, and the ability to comment under or tag them in photos by anyone else was blocked. These were deliberately set boundaries that provided the artists with a line of privacy.
While all of the members arrived on the platform at the same time, a few seemed to already have in mind what they wanted to show to ARMY. J-Hope’s feed under the username @uarmyhope, featured a style reminiscent of polaroid photos with a focus on sharing moments in his daily life. Recently, he has taken to taking photos of his outfits and posting pictures taken on a film camera by him. RM showcased his love for traveling and museum-going ― lovingly dubbed ‘Namjooning’ by ARMYs ― through picture sets from all over the US during the start of their vacation. His username, @rkive, is a nod to his studio and an archive of his adventures.

The next line of members took to sharing their favorite things, some behind-the-scenes shots, and daily shenanigans. Jin under username @jin, in proper EatJin fashion, gifted ARMY with several food posts. User @abcdefghi__lmnopqrstuvwxyz, Jung Kook, took to the platform with pictures of his boxing workouts and dog photos that made ARMY hearts soar. Following his trend of sharing music and candid photos is V, user @thv, ever the jazz lover, shares clips of his favorite media.

The more elusive members of the group on the platform are Jimin and Suga. Jimin, user @j.m, shared a few photos from his vacation and a post expressing his love for ARMY. After a short trip around the U.S. Suga, user @agustd, took to Instagram to share his pictures and add some humorous captions.
The members use the app to like each other's photos and comment amongst themselves, joking and having fun. Despite their separate accounts and the members spending time doing their own distinctive hobbies, their love for each other and being a group is abundantly clear in their interactions. The personas they've created online sing praises to their pride of being BTS, while also cataloging their unique qualities.
Amidst the subsequent chaos that was seen to unfold amongst ARMYs as they now rush to various platforms to greet their idols, the consensus has been overwhelming love for the group. Fans flooded social media with well-wishes for them, in full hopes that their break is restful and relaxing. Despite the individuality of each member, lies the unbreakable bond that they share, being one of seven— being BTS.
