BTS is known for being the biggest animal lovers and for playing the role as the pets’ parents themselves. It’s not unusual for us to see them interact with every animal they encounter, from a small crab to a gigantic elephant.
Here are some highlights about BTS’s cutest animals encountered.
1 - BTS 2015 “Summer Package” in Kota Kinabalu
Visiting Kota Kinabalu in 2015, BTS had an opportunity to film the “Summer Package” in a zoo. They got to interact with and feed several animals, including the elephant. The highlight of the trip was of course taking pictures with a snake.
2 - “Run BTS!” Episode 23
This episode of “Run BTS!” might be one of the most legendary episodes of the program, as ARMY gets to see BTS interact with cute doggies. Pairing up with seven dogs, BTS got to experience how it feels to teach a dog about different commands and join an agility competition with them.
3 - Interview with Puppies
Puppies playing with puppies? No, no. You’re just looking at BTS playing with cute puppies during an interview with BuzzFeed. How they were able to focus on answering the interview questions while puppies were paddling and stumbling all over their legs, we will never know.
4 - Animals on Set
There’s nothing more refreshing than having animal friends at your workplace — or in BTS’ case — a shooting location. Some adorable creatures were spotted a few times on a set, be it the staff’s pet, an animal that would model with them on a photoshoot or video shoot, or even their furbabies.
We also can’t forget about the famous calico cat that took part in “Serendipity” Comeback Trailer and the famous dog that V practiced with for his “Hwarang” Drama.
5 - BTS Being Pets’ Parents
Last but not least, of course, we can’t forget about the fact that BTS is or was a pet’s parent themselves.
Like dads who like to bring their kids into their workplace, BTS, most specifically V and Jin, were spotted taking their pets into the practice room and even broadcasting station. There’s even a “BANGTAN BOMB” about it! Let’s check it out!
Just like Jin and V, the rest of the members are also proud pet parents. An American Eskimo dog breed called RapMon is RM’s only pet. Through the pictures that RM’s posted on Twitter, we know that RapMon had recently celebrated his 8th birthday on Mar. 6, 2021, which means that this dog has been around since the beginning of BTS’ career.
Next comes Mickey, a Shih Tzu breed that also has been around since the pre-debut era of BTS. Through his birthday Vlive in 2021, J-Hope updated that Mickey is sick, and his sister confirmed on her Vlog on YouTube that Mickey had developed glaucoma, causing him to get less playful. Let’s pray all the best for Mickey!
Jin was also a parent of a white Maltese called Jjangu for 12 years. He also took care of three Sugar Gliders called Odeng, Eomuk, and Gukmul. These three marsupials made their debut on BTS’ Mnet DNA Comeback Show in 2017.

Gureum, Jung Kook’s dog, is also a Maltese breed. Jung Kook shared that Gureum was a rescued dog, and he adopted him from an animal shelter. Gureum is the Korean word for Cloud, referring to the adorable dog’s pure and fluffy white fur.
The same goes for Holly, a brown Toy Poodle that Suga’s family rescued from an animal shelter in 2016. The dog now lives with his brother.
The newest addition to the family was Yeontan, a Pomeranian that V adopted. He made his first appearance on Jin’s Birthday Vlive in 2017 when he was still a baby. A year later, V made a special Vlive with Jimin to introduce Yeontan properly.
V is known to have a few pets, cats and dogs, and the famous one before Yeontan’s arrival was Soonshim, a white goofball of Korean Jindo breed that was seen from time to time during their earlier debut days.
As for Jimin, he used to have a dog called Ddosun when he was a child.
PASS IT ON
BTS is known for participating in several campaigns and donations. In December 2018, the Korean Animal Welfare Association announced that Jin had donated 322 kgs worth of pet food to the animal shelter to celebrate his birthday.
ARMYs who have been passing their love towards BTS by donating and doing campaigns have started to donate more for animals and nature. Inspired by BTS’ big hearts, they helped provide homes for hundreds of rescued animals all over the world.
Passing on the “Love Yourself” message BTS have been advocating for years, let’s not limit our love solely to human beings. Love comes in so many forms, and every living thing in this world deserves love that we can provide. The little things we do to our animal friends might seem like nothing for us, but it means the whole world to them.
