Don’t Need Permission to Dance on Stage with BTS!

What comes to mind when talking about “PTD” and BTS? Yes, indeed! It is “Permission to Dance,” BTS’ latest all-English hit song. As we know, it has been receiving a warm response from fans around the world and providing strong energy to all viewers since its release.

It gives a pure message, which relates to hope. In the music video, hope can be seen in the form of the purple balloons that float up to the sky and in those who find them in their daily life, as they enjoy the moment by dancing freely without any hesitation. In addition, “Permission to Dance” has a special choreography that uses International Sign Language (ISL) that also has inspirational meaning. Three moves that mean “fun,” “dance,” and “peace.” The gesture of scratching the body with the thumb extended and the other fingers half-bent means “have fun.” The movement of the two fingers of one hand from side to side while using the open palm of the other hand as the stage means “dance.” And you know which gesture shows a symbol of “peace,” right? Another interesting fact about this song is the English co-writers! This was a collaboration between Ed Sheeran, Steve Mac, Johnny McDaid, and Jenna Andrews.

In a surprise announcement that was made last month, the global pop group revealed that they would be hosting an online concert titled “Permission to Dance on Stage.” Powered by VenewLive, this amazing global online concert took place less than 24 hours ago, on October 24 at 6:30 PM KST. Fans who purchased soundcheck packages gained access to the band’s soundcheck streaming at 3:00 PM KST on October 24. The news also told us that this would be BTS’ first online concert for 2021, following their June performance of MUSTER SOWOOZOO, another record-breaking event celebrating their 8th anniversary.

The only available platform for purchasing online concert tickets was the Weverse Shop Global. After purchasing, ticket holders were reminded to verify their tickets, unless of course, they planned on skipping the concert, but we all know that would be the last thing on fans’ minds. For general ticket sales, fans were only offered an HD single-view, which sold for around 42 USD. If you had an ARMY Membership though, you were able to access more benefits for the concert. There were either packages with 4k single-view + HD multi-view + Soundcheck or 4k single-view + HD multi-view, which had a limited quantity and cost around 63 USD and 51 USD, respectively. The others were HD multi-view + Soundcheck, and HD multi-view, which cost around 55 USD and 42 USD, respectively.

In terms of soundcheck, this is where artists normally perform 2 to 3 songs prior to the start of a concert in order to check the venue’s sound system and ensure it’s ready for the event. BTS’ soundcheck not only gave viewers a sneak peek at hairstyles and colors - always a hot topic for fans but also allowed fans to see for themselves that V was still able to perform, despite being forced to sit out most of the full concert as a result of a rehearsal injury.

So, how was the concert for you? Did you go in prepared with your devices charged, headsets/headphones at the ready, Wi-Fi connection stable, and spare batteries for your ARMY Bomb Lightsticks! Did you dance wherever you were in celebration of the concert theme - “we don’t need permission to dance!” Did you survive all the stunning OT7 performances, stylish outfits, and nostalgic trip down memory lane? So many questions we know but we’d love to hear about your experiences.
