BTS Comeback: That That I Like That!

Who here is waiting for BTS’ comeback?

SORIJILLEOOOO!!! (소리 질러 - MAKE SOME NOISE!!!).

As we know, BIGHIT MUSIC announced through Weverse that the group will be coming back in June with a new album. Furthermore, they also revealed their comeback at Las Vegas’ final concert of PERMISSION TO DANCE ON STAGE last month.

They also mentioned the date which is June 10th, 2022 for releasing their new album with the phrase “We Are Bulletproof.” The BTS logo was drawn, signaling a new project. In addition, June 13th is always a special date because of the “BTS Festa” where BTS celebrates the anniversary of their debut with ARMY. It is common for BTS to receive many gifts from ARMY -- including new pictures, funny content, video content, special songs, etc. – usually taking place for 10-14 days starting the first week of June.

While there have been many articles, blogs, and social media platforms sharing the announcement of their new album, BIGHIT MUSIC also shared that “Proof” will be an anthology album, taking BTS into their “new chapter.” The album will comprise three CDs, with music spanning BTS’ career. In addition, each CD will feature a new BTS song; so we will get three new songs in total. “Yet To Come” (The Most Beautiful Moment) has been confirmed on CD 1 as the title track of the anthology, while “달려라 방탄” and “For Youth” can be found on the CDs 2 and 3.

GOALS, GOALS, & MORE GOALS

As we draw closer to the album release date, social media platforms are filled with the excitement of fans from all over the world. Local, national, and international fan-based accounts have been posting their versions of comeback goals for “Proof” with one of the biggest goals being to beat records set by the previous comebacks. With an amazing 108.2 million views, BTS’ “Butter” holds the record for the most-viewed YouTube MV in 24 hours, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that fans will be wanting to break this record when “Yet To Come” is released.

Comeback goals come in all shapes and sizes. Here are two examples of comeback goal posters created by the fan accounts @BTSGlobalCharts and @Army_Connect. Each is designed to highlight the expected goals across the most relevant platforms in order to try and secure a #1 spot. These platforms include (but aren’t limited to) Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, Billboard Charts, iTunes, and Shazam. While the goals may seem like ‘god tier’ level, the intent is that if everyone is consistently streaming and/or purchasing, then the goals are achievable. As you can see from the second image -- global goals and country-specific goals vary. In fact, from country to country, the goals differ as well, depending on which platforms are promoted.

While many fans promote comeback goals, other fans will promote ‘how to’ guides: such as how to interact with different platforms, how to create and stream playlists, or how to purchase from different platforms. Whether you are a baby ARMY newly arrived to the fandom or a more seasoned fan who just wants a refresher on the do's and don’ts, then you should be able to find help (and lots of it) on your favorite social media sites. Generally speaking, comebacks are always an exciting moment in time for fans. However, this has been magnified significantly, considering how artists, musicians, and their fans from all over the world are still reeling from the impacts of a global pandemic. For many though, the hope that we are over the worst is ever-present in the hearts and minds of many. Psy’s recent title track, “That That” shares the reality of wanting to satisfy the undeniable longing of getting back out amongst the fans – singing, dancing, performing, and having fun. “Pandemic’s over” may sound a little presumptuous, but it is still said with respect to the current climate and contexts that may differ from one country to the next, one state to the next, and even one city to the next.

As ARMYs prepare for a comeback that is slated to be ‘epic,’ we want to remind fans, wherever you are from, whatever your circumstances may be, that any contributions you make to the comeback goals, big or small, are valued. In the past, many fans have expressed how they wished they could do more, buy more, and stream more, all of which are honorable intentions. Some have also expressed feeling less of an ARMY because of their limited contributions. Borasaek Vision is here to remind us all that there is no dollar value attached to the love you express for BTS. What you receive, what you give back, and how, is a very personal experience for each and every ARMY. Whether you’re only able to stream on YouTube by yourself, or you join a streaming party with thousands of other fans, everything counts.

The first 24 hours of a comeback is the most exciting period (in our humble opinion). That’s why listeners are encouraged not to post or watch reaction or lyric videos during that time, as only official releases count towards comeback goals. However, we also know how important it is to remain steady and consistent with streaming and purchasing over longer periods of time. Remember also that Billboard has changed the way it counts views and purchases. Fortunately, one of our team member’s covered this in an earlier blog so we’re sharing what we learned in our Everything About Hot 100 Purchases” blog - just in case!

We’re wishing everyone an exciting BTS comeback! 화이팅!!!
