On Oct. 29, 2019, BTS finished their ‘Love Yourself: Speak Yourself’ world tour at Seoul Olympic Main Stadium ― their last show was filled with tearful, yet happy, goodbyes. But, what they didn’t know at the time was that those same goodbyes would be their last before a global pandemic held the band away from their fan-filled stadium performances for over two years. For both ARMYs and the boys, it was a difficult period. Having these moments of connection through music and performance taken away painted a bleak and disheartening picture.
However, hope is quickly rising in the horizon and the wait will soon be over! To our great excitement, on Nov. 27 and 28, and Dec. 1 and 2, 2021, BTS will finally return with an in-person concert, setting the stage for their long-awaited reunion with fans.
The four Permission to Dance on Stage shows will take place in the SOFI Stadium in Inglewood, California, at 7:30 PM PT. Simultaneously, the concerts will be broadcasted through the big screen on four special events in the adjacent YouTube Theatre (BTS Permission to Dance on Stage – Live Play in LA). And for international ARMY, there’s no need to be afraid to miss this memorable moment – the final two concerts will be globally live-streamed online with further details yet to be revealed. Either way, it’s clear that BTS expects to share these moments with as many fans as possible, and ARMY’s wishes follow this same pattern.
What can we expect from the four greatly anticipated shows? The setlist will most likely be the same as it was during PTD: On Stage Online Concert – a mix of their old tunes and new hits, with the seven men on stage at all times. However, BTS is well known for their twists, turns, and surprises, so we can never get too comfortable. Nothing is set in stone, and ARMYs should be at the edge of their seat when trying to guess what BTS has prepared for us next.
Nonetheless, what we can be sure of is that BTS’ powerful performances will be back in full force, aided by the audience’s energy. Throughout their careers, the singers have never disappointed when it came to putting on a show, wowing the viewers with their festival-like vibrancy. Still, the seven men have mentioned many times before how hard it was to do a concert without ARMY’s presence. Even during the PTD: On Stage Online Concert, Jimin said that, with the empty Olympic Stadium, it felt like a sort of rehearsal. So, we can only imagine how encouraging the atmosphere of a full stadium will be for the singers throughout the two hours, marking the return of the fun and spark many of us feared to lose during these trying times.
Plus, what is certainly bound to make an appearance during the concerts is a great deal of emotion. BTS has never been afraid to show themselves vulnerable on stage, delivering songs and speeches that touched ARMYs heart in various ways. This time, the sentiment won’t be any different, but it will definitely be a lot more amplified. It’s no secret that the two-year long-distance has built up a lot of emotional baggage, both for the band and the fans. So, on the fateful re-encounter ― something that had remained nothing more than a hopeful dream for ARMYs until a month ago ― those feelings are ready and bound to be released. Fans at home and at the venues should prepare some tissues because the fandom and BTS will be sharing many tears. But these will not be tears of frustration or sadness – they’ll be tears of happiness, just like they had been on that now far away day in 2019.
So, at last, after the end of this long winter, spring will come again as the band made sure to remind us with “Spring Day.'' And this incredibly special spring for ARMYs and BTS will, undoubtedly, be a season to remember for a very long time.
