BTS Hometown: Serendipity in Jimin’s City - Geumjeong, Busan

Touch down to BUSAN, our last place to visit here! Have you figured it out yet? There are two BTS members who were born in this city, but we will explore the places of interest one by one. From the title, you can get a quick answer about which member we will be covering today. Yes! It is JIMIN our “lachimolala” boy! Let’s explore more!

Busan is the second most populous city after Seoul with its unique places and attractions. Geumjeong district is a district in north-central Busan, South Korea. Approximately 7.3% of Busan’s population is in Geumjeong. It also has a hiking spot for Busan residents and tourists.

The first place of interest is Hoedong Elementary School. It is located at 217 Geumsa-ro, Geumsa-dong, Geumjeong-gu, Busan. You can take the bus number 42 and go straight there, because that place is its last destination. This school was closed in 2018, right after Jimin’s father attended the last graduation ceremony held by this school. He attended on behalf of Jimin and distributed 60 signed BTS CDs and supported 10 students with middle school uniforms. It is renamed Hoedong Maru, a place still filled with children’s laughter, consisting of the Nutrition Experience Center and the Creative Factor. At the Nutrition Experience Center, children can learn how to maintain a healthy life by using all their five senses. At the Creative Factory, it is possible to create diverse products using wood, fabrics, recyclable materials, 3D printers, and 3D pens. It’s a beloved place for children to learn about their career paths.

Next one, Dadaepo Beach! Maybe it is a bit far away from Jimin’s home, but he visited this place with its stunning view of the sunset when he celebrated the new year in 2016. It is located where Nakdonggang Estuary meets the South Sea. It is a great place to see a sunset, and there is also a water show accompanied by BTS’ songs, which is often held on BTS’ anniversaries at the Sunset Fountain of Dreams, the pride of Dadaepo Beach. Furthermore, you can enjoy sports and have a picnic with your family in this place, because they have full facilities that everyone can enjoy, such as a park, basketball courts, soccer fields, etc. If you feel low and burned out, just try to escape to this place and enjoy your healing time by waiting until the sunset goes down.

Feeling better with the sunset on Dadaepo Beach? Well, let us go around to another beach that can’t be beaten when it comes to the nighttime scene: Gwangalli Beach! This is another place that Jimin attended besides Dadaepo Beach. He also uploaded pictures of Gwangalli Beach on Twitter with his comment, “Let’s have fun tomorrow,” before a BTS fan meeting in Busan in 2019. It is a nice place to relieve stress from your life. You can do anything here, including riding a yacht or a banana boat, sightseeing, taking a lot of pictures on many beautiful spots such as the views of Gwangan Bridge. Just look! My friend and I took a picture to give us a fun memory to take home after doing work on campus.

Last, but not least, we have Jimin’s father's cafe, Magnate! You can use the same bus, 42, to go to this place and stop at Yonpo Elementary School. Just walk for five minutes, then voilà! It’s mesmerizing to see what lies just beyond the door and to take in the decorations of the cafe. It has many artworks, interiors, places, and lots of windows. You will never want to go home because of the welcoming atmosphere created by the impeccable decoration and, of course, BTS’ songs in the house! You can take a table inside or outside because they have lots of cozy places to sit. The coffee and cake? Splendid! It supports the vibe of enjoyment and relaxation for a moment before facing another day. If you want to know about Jimin’s father, then you’ll be happy to know that he was there when I sat down. Without expectation, he just suddenly came up to his employees with his kind aura. He helped them by serving the customers. But, keeping his privacy in mind, I am sorry that I can’t show the picture.

If you’re curious, perhaps you could visit for yourself, either hanging out with your friends or having some quality time alone!

That was the last place of interest for us to visit and learn from Jimin’s hometown during this stop, but it doesn’t mean that we don’t have other places to visit, do we? And yes! We are going to visit Jungkook's childhood areas after enjoying all the places where Jimin was born and raised in Busan. Where is it? What kind of place is it, where Jungkook was born? How can we go there? Pack your bags and take a rest first, because we will be having a great time with our lovely Kookie on our next trip.
